Czech Republic - Prague and Karlstejn
We visited the Czech Republic (or Czechia) in 2004, spending a few days in the capital Prague, before visiting the nearby Karlstejn Castle. Lying on both sides of the Vltava River, historic Prague* is an absolute gem, with many churches, palaces and castles dating from the 14th century and many later Baroque additions. It's home to an early C15th astronomical clock and the oldest active synagogue in Europe. Picturesque Karlstejn Castle (also C14th) lies some 30km south-west of Prague. Please make allowances - the photos were all taken on a very basic digital camera! (* = UNESCO World Heritage Site)
