Greece - The Peloponnese

We revisited Greece in 2015, exactly thirty years since we had spent our honeymoon there. We first visited the Peloponnese (this album), before flying to Rhodes. The Peloponnese (see map) has stunning scenery and is packed with history - bronze-age civilisations, Classical Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman. From Athens airport we drove to Ancient Corinth, before arriving at Nafplio. From there we visited Mycenae* and Epidaurus*, and then headed further south to Gythio, stopping at Mystras* en route. We then visited Monemvasia and saw the tower houses in the Mani peninsula, before heading back north via Ancient Messene, Ancient Olympia* and the Temple of Apollo at Bassae*. We finished our trip by heading east along the beautiful Lousios Gorge. (* = UNESCO World Heritage Site)
