Egypt - Pharaonic Treasures

The Land of the Pharaohs - and is there anywhere quite so unique? We spent just over one week visiting its key sites, from Memphis* and the Pyramids of Giza to Dashur, Historic Cairo* and Ancient Thebes* (Luxor, Karnak and the Valley of the Kings) to the Nubian Monuments* of Abu Simbel and Philae (with their astonishing relocation with the creation of the vast Lake Nasser). We saw the Step Pyramid of Djoser in Saqqara (Old Kingdom, and the oldest stone monument in the world), and traversed through the Middle and New Kingdoms to the Late Periods and subsequent Ptolemaic Dynasty - a lot of history, kings and queens and gods to take in! We flew from Cairo to Luxor, and then took a wonderful Nile cruiser to beautiful Aswan - see separate albums for Everything Else and People. Many thanks to Andrew for the expert guiding.
