Iceland - The Southwest (winter)
The Land of Fire and Ice - Part 1. We first visited Iceland in February 2017, when we thought there would be a lot of snow, but instead we got grey skies and rain (two weeks later they had the heaviest snowfall for 80 years!). It was still a great trip to this truly unique and beautiful country. We stayed in Keflavik, visited the "Golden Circle" of Thingvellir, Gullfoss and Geysir and, of course, Reykjavik - with its funky street art. We also drove around the Reykjanes Peninsula and up to Stykkisholmur. We saw the Northern Lights and even managed to photograph them. We need to go back in the summer and explore some more!
